Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Have you ever had a time when you felt that you needed to go and see someone? How about when you see a stranger and you have the sense to walk up to him or her and say Hi? Here is
another one. You are out at a restaurant eating, and you receive your ticket and you have that feeling to pay for someone else’s meal. Well, when you have these feeling, how do you react? I now look at these as opportunities and
blessings. In the past, I would just shake those feeling off. So when you look at these as a
blessing, there is no way that you can overlook them. Why is that? Look at what Jesus said to his disciples in John 20:21 and 22.
In John 20:21 and 22:
21, Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
22, And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
You see, when you receive the Holy Spirit within your heart then several things will happen. 1.) Truth will be revealed to you. 2.) You will be filled with knowledge. Now that is not the knowledge of the world but the knowledge of the Spiritual realm that helps you to better
understand what Easter is really all about. 3.) The Holy Spirit gives you life. In Romans 8:11, “And the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” 4.) The Holy Spirit intercedes for us. In Romans 8:26, Paul tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us at our weakest moments. You know, the times you want to pray and you just don’t have the words. Relax and let the Holy Spirit take over and intercede for you.
We are quickly approaching the time of
Pentecost. May 11th, will be Pentecost Sunday. Have you received the Holy Spirit? I have given you several questions to reflect on for this next weeks.
Here is a challenge for you during next week. Be more open to those feelings that may be a
blessing to you. Reaching out and touching someone in the name of Jesus Christ is what life is all about.
Peace be with you!!!
Pastor Harry
A prayer for Otterbein UMC:
Lord, that you would bless Otterbein United Methodist Church, and enlarge our territory! Let your hand be with us and keep us from harm so that we will be free from pain. Fill us with your Holy Spirit to be the disciples you want us to be. Amen.
